What is Horny Goat Weed / Epimedium Extract / Icariin ?

Epimedium (Horny goat weed, Yin Yang Huo in Chinese) is a natural product based on the natural gifts. The active ingredient is icariin. Horny goat weed contains dozens of flavonoids, many of which are prenylflavonoids.

Icariin is extracted from the aerial parts of the genus Epimedium (also known as Horny Goat Weed), especially the species Epimedium sagittatum (Sieb. et Zucc.) Maxim. or Epimedium Grandiflorum. Icariin is a chemical compound classified as a prenylated flavonol glycoside, a type of flavonoid. Icariin powder has brown (Icariin 20%) to light yellow (Icariin 98%) color, characteristic odor and bitter taste.
